Summary

Your files never leave your device. Lessr processes everything on your iPhone or iPad. The only information the app sends anywhere is anonymous usage statistics that help us see which tools are used and whether they work. Those statistics are never linked to you and never include your files.

What we collect

Lessr uses PostHog, an analytics service, hosted in the European Union. When you use the app it records:

• Usage events — for example that a tool was opened, that a compression finished, or that a conversion failed and why (as a category such as "no audio track", never the file itself).
• Non-identifying details of those events — the input and output format, how many files were in the batch, the file size and processing time as broad ranges (for example "1–10 MB", "5–30 s"), the percentage saved, and whether the app is on the free or Pro tier.
• App and device information — app version, iOS version, device model, language and timezone, and whether the app was installed, updated or opened.
• A random installation identifier — generated on your device so repeated uses can be counted as one installation. It is not your Apple ID, advertising identifier, name, email or phone number, and it cannot be used to contact or identify you.

The analytics service receives your IP address as part of the network request. We have configured it to discard the IP address rather than store it; only the country derived from it is kept.

What we never collect

• Your files — photos, videos, audio, PDFs and their contents are never uploaded. All conversion, compression, metadata stripping, background removal and PDF processing happens on your device using Apple's native frameworks (AVFoundation, Core Image, PDFKit, Vision).
• File names, folder names, or metadata from your files.
• Anything that identifies you — no name, email, account, contacts, precise location, or advertising identifier. We do not use the iOS advertising identifier (IDFA) and never ask for tracking permission.
• Screen recordings or session replays.

Usage statistics are sent over an encrypted connection and are queued on your device when you are offline, so the app works fully without an internet connection.

Why we collect it and how long we keep it

We use the statistics only to understand which features are used, find failures, and improve the app. We do not sell or share them with advertisers, and we do not use them for advertising or cross-app tracking. Aggregated statistics are kept only as long as they are useful for improving the app.

Photo Library Access

The app requests access to your photo library only when you choose to select photos or videos for processing, or when you choose to save results to your Photos library. This access is controlled by iOS permissions and can be revoked at any time in Settings.

File Storage

Converted files can be saved to:

• App Directory — visible in the iOS Files app under "On My iPhone".
• Files Folder — a folder you choose via the iOS file picker.
• Photos Library — your device's photo library (images and videos only).

Temporary files created during processing are stored in the app's temporary directory and are automatically cleaned up.

In-App Purchases

The app uses Apple's StoreKit framework for in-app purchases. Purchase transactions are handled entirely by Apple. We do not receive or store any payment information. Our statistics record only that a purchase was completed and which plan was chosen.

Children's Privacy

The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. The anonymous statistics described above apply equally to users of all ages.

Third-Party Services

• PostHog (PostHog Inc., data hosted in the EU) processes the anonymous usage statistics on our behalf under its privacy policy and data processing agreement.
• Apple handles in-app purchases through the App Store under Apple's Privacy Policy.

No other third-party SDKs, advertising networks, or tracking services are included in the app.

Your Rights

Because the statistics are not linked to you, we cannot look up or export "your" data. Deleting the app removes the installation identifier; a reinstall starts a new one. If you are in the EU/EEA, UK, or another region with data-protection rights and have a question or request, contact us and we will help.

Changes to This Policy

If we change this privacy policy, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Earlier versions of Lessr (before 2.0) collected no usage statistics at all; this version of the policy reflects the analytics added in version 2.0.
